And what a journey this has been. When I entered a drink into the Bacardi legacy competition I was humbled to be included as a semi finalist. Since then and thanks to my fellow competitors who have pushed me,it is Bacardi who continues to inspire us all, and the outpouring of support I received from absolutely everybody, I’ve just grown as a person and as a bartender more than I could possibly imagine in such a short amount of time.
I traversed the Atlantic, worked behind two of the worlds best bars, started a podcast that has led me to speak to some of the most remarkable people in our industry, i’ve had to learn how to ask for help across continents and across different fields. The results have been beyond my wildest dreams and now I stand and on the verge of the national finals confident that I have done and continue to do all I possibly could. To not be able to sell the drink in my own bar was really devastating, but I think I’ve been able to turn that obstacle into an opportunity to reach out and really test the story of my legacy; but together we really can achieve more. I would be lost without the help of others and now I’ve been in a position where I could give some of that back and have been able to help some of our other bartender brother and sisters and their pursuits of the legacies and futures they want.
It’s a really rewarding thing and I’m forever grateful for it
